A multi-vehicle collision at the Gomoa Okyereko junction on the Accra Cape Coast section has left two passengers critically injured and 55 others with minor injuries.
The collision involved three vehicles: a Yutong bus with the license plate AS-850-21, an articulated truck with the license plate 349 HF 01, and a Honda CR-V with the license plate GW-970-20.
According to a police source, all of the passengers on the Yutong bus were on their way to Ivory Coast from Ho in the Volta Region.
The driver of the Honda CR-V, James Nii Ayi, talked to the media and stated that the articulated truck was committing improper overtaking, which resulted in the accident.
After the erroneous overtaking action, the Yutong bus collided with the rear of James Ayi’s vehicle, resulting in the collision.
The injured people have been sent to local hospitals for treatment, while officials conduct investigations to identify the actual cause of the disaster and hold those responsible accountable.
