The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Krachi East, Francis Okesu, has been found dead in a hotel room in Ejisu following a visit to the Ashanti Region.
In an interview with the media, the Communications Officer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Musah Seidu, said: “preliminary reports we are getting indicate that he left Krachi East to Kumasi on Friday to attend a meeting on Saturday. He closed from the meeting around 1pm and returned to his hotel room at Ejisu.
“On Sunday September 4, his driver, personal assistant tried to reach him in the morning, but to no avail. So, it started raising suspicion till 3pm until management of the hotel were contacted. They also made contact to the Ghana Police Service and they came to break into his room only to find him dead,” Seidu added.
Seidu disclosed that the MCE was not on official assignment when the incident occurred.
“For now, the information we have now is that the meeting is a private one, because all the MMDCEs are in their respective districts,” Seidu revealed.
Prior to his appointment as MCE, Okesu was the NPP secretary for Krachi East constituency.
