The Group Chief Executive Officer of OilCity Radio, Mr Samuel Quartey has said that the OilCity Radio project is one among three phases designed to achieve the Kwesimintsim media hub.
This he said at the just-launched OilCity Radio station which took place on May 30, 2022, at the Kwesimintsim constituency, Western region.
According to the C.E.O, an engagement by Honorable Dr. Prince Hamid Armah with stakeholders was to explore the possibility of building a media production center in Kwesiminstim, which subsequently resulted in a roadmap design to achieve these phases.
Phase one involves the development and operation of a world-class radio facility to support multiple broadcast platforms. Phase two incorporates specialized training programmes, to train cinematographers, video editors, broadcast journalists, colorists, screen actors, and many others. Phase three encompasses the production of audio-visual content for television broadcast. This is expected to unleash talents in the music and film industry.
Mr. Quartey added that “we have succeeded in attracting some of the finest experts in the industry to support this project.”
“Practitioners with decades of practice and experience in the radio, music, television, and film industries are lending their support in defining the new Kwesimintsim brand,” he added.
Mr. Quartey, again mentioned that the local-based radio station will broadcast in English and Akan, with 30% English and 70% Akan, to suit all audiences from all the ethnic backgrounds in the Sekondi-Takoradi area and Western Region as a whole.
He, therefore, urged the cooperation of traditional rulers and Kwesimintsim constituents to work and develop Kwesimintsim as the next film and music destination.
