A parliamentary candidate is hopeful in the Abuakwa South constituency Solomon Nana Frimpong was attacked by three unknown people on his way to the constituency party office of the National Democratic Congress to file his nomination form on Tuesday.
The three, who were riding a motorcycle, inflicted machete wounds on his left arm and ribs before stealing 20,000 cedis from his car.
The incident occurred on the road connecting Apedwa and Amanfrom.
OilCity Radio can confirm that Solomon Nana Frimpong, who was rushed to the Kibi Government Hospital following the incident, is still receiving treatment today.
Executives of the National Democratic Party (NDC) in the Abuakwa South constituency have requested that the Eastern Regional Police Command investigate and arrest those responsible for the attack and robbery of a Parliamentary aspirant yesterday.
The Abuakwa South Constituency Secretary, Ofori Aikins, condemned the attack and demanded that justice be served.
“Around 6 pm yesterday, we had a call that the parliamentary candidate hopeful had been attacked by hoodlums on his way to the constituency office to file his nomination. We went to the Kyebi government hospital, where he was admitted. He was seriously hurt. The three hoodlums are also said to have taken away 20,000 cedis.”
“We cannot watch this go unpunished, Justice must be served and served quickly. We want the police to expedite investigations into the matter.”
