Electronic Money Issuers (EMIS) around the country have until the end of Wednesday, January 31, 2024, to work with agents to link their accounts to the Ghana Card or TIN or have their SIM cards banned.
The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications released this instruction in a statement dated January 30, 2024.
According to the chamber, this decision comes after several detailed discussions with the Ghana Revenue Authority’s (GRA) leadership.

In a statement made on Tuesday, January 30, the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications stated that “all agent accounts without Ghana cards will be blocked on February 1, 2024.”

“We’d want to utilise this press release as a final call to action for the agents, pushing them to regularise their business by connecting their accounts to their Ghana Cards or TIN, if they haven’t already. Failure to do so by the end of Wednesday, January 31, 2024, would result in their accounts being blocked,” it stated.
If an agent’s account is suspended on February 1, 2024, the Chamber says they can finish the procedure by visiting any operator outlet with their Ghana Card or TIN.
“We recognise the critical role of mobile financial services in promoting financial inclusion and economic prosperity in the country. We are dedicated to take the necessary efforts to provide all Ghanaians with simple, secure, and accessible financial services,” it stated.
