Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the current Majority Leader and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, will be succeeded by the current Deputy Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
There is no indication yet if the Suame MP will continue in his job as Minister for Parliamentary Affairs.
However, he is expected to be chosen as Chairman of the NPP’s 2024 Manifesto Committee.
Frank Annoh Dompreh, the current Majority Chief Whip, and MP Nsawam-Adoagyiri will be promoted to Deputy Majority Leader, allowing Habib Iddrisu, the current First Deputy Chief Whip, to take over as Majority Chief Whip.
According to sources, Patricia Appiagyei would likely be nominated First Deputy Majority Chief Whip.
The incumbent, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, was recently nominated by President Nana Akuffo-Addo as Minister for Water Resources and Sanitation, creating this vacancy.
According to reports, the position of Second Deputy Chief Whip will most likely be filled by Alex Tetteh Djornobuah, MP for Sefwi-Akontombra.
Following President Akuffo-Addo’s Valentine’s Day Ministerial Reshuffle last week, the NPP’s National Council will have a significant meeting on Monday to, among other things, reshuffle the majority front bench.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is set to submit his campaign team to the party’s National Executive Committee and National Council today, Monday, February 19, 2024.
The names of the campaign team members are scheduled to be released following this meeting.
According to sources within the party, Dan Botwe, former Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, is expected to be nominated campaign manager for the 2024 general election.
Mr. Dan Botwe was one of the ministers removed from their positions last week in a reshuffle by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
