Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has disclosed that 88 hospitals out of the ‘Agenda 111’ are currently under construction.
President Nana Akufo-Addo launched the initiative, which includes the construction of 111 hospitals, on August 17, 2021, with the promise of completing the work in 18 months.
Some districts have encountered difficulties in getting land for building, casting doubt on the government’s commitment to the projects.
Mr Oppong Nkrumah remarked during a news conference in Trede, Ashanti region, where the project was launched two years ago, that some of the hospitals that were behind time had been closed.
“The brief I have is that 88 are currently under construction and are divided into eight zones, each of which contains 54 projects. We’ve visited 33 venues thus far, and we thought it was necessary to display everything that has happened so far from Trede, where it all began.”
“We have also provided you with reports on the sites that we have visited thus far, the majority of which are doing well and the few which are falling behind schedule.” We’ve also kept you up to date on the ones we had to cancel because they were running late.”
Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare, the President’s health advisor, promised that sufficient funds is available to complete the project.
Furthermore, he stated that once completed, these hospitals will provide job opportunities for nurses and contribute to Ghana’s general economic growth.
