Agona-Nwanta, the capital of the Ahanta West Municipality, usually exeperiences brisk trading activities on wednesdays. Unlike other places that have placed a ban on market days, the market in Agona-Nkwanta has not been closed to trading activities.
The Ahanta West Municipal Assembly has instituted measures aimed at curtailing the spread of the Novel Corona Virus within the Metropolis, as it has recorded three cases. In line with that, the Assembly has instituted a policy that persons seeking to access the market without nose masks are turned away.
The Agona-Nkwanta market, one of the largest markets in the Western region, has been inundated with the wearing of nose masks of different types and colours. Traders and buyers alike, are all seen wearing a nose mask. Security men, stationed outside the market, do not allow anybody without nose mask entry to the market.
Ahanta West Municipal Assembly (AWMA) took this action against the backdrop of it having recorded three cases of COVID-19.The Assembly stated it will do all it can to ensure that the disease does not spread within the district, any further. This comes after the Assembly recorded its first case of coronavirus on Monday, 4th May 2202, followed by two additional cases on Tuesday.
