President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in accordance with article 78 of the constitution, has appointed the Member of Parliament (MP) for Walewale, Hon. Lariba Zuweira Abudu, as the Minister-designate for gender, children and social protection pending Parliamentary approval.
Prior to the appointment, Hon. Abudu was the deputy minister for the gender ministry.
In a statement released today, August 2 2022, the President has also nominated MP for Kwabre East, Hon. Francisca Oteng Mensah, as Deputy Minister- designate for gender, children and social protection, subject to the approval of parliament.
“The President is hopeful that expedite the approval of his nominees for this important Ministry, so they can assist in the effective delivery of his mandate for his second term in office,” the statement concluded.
This comes after President Akufo-Addo, in late July, revoked the appointment of Sarah Adwoa Safo as the gender minister.
In an attempts to depose her, embattled Sarah Adwoa Safo who is also MP for Dome-Kwabenya stated that she is unbothered by attempts by some elements within the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to topple her as minister and MP.
