Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, has denied being engaged in the destruction of billboards and artworks associated with Kennedy Agyapong, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer contender.
This comes after charges by Kennedy Agyapong supporters that Annoh-Dompreh was responsible for vandalising campaign materials in his area before of the party’s special delegates conference.
However, the politician has categorically denied any involvement in such acts. While he does not support Kennedy Agyapong’s presidential ambitions, he says he would never use such techniques to sabotage his candidature.
In a statement addressing the subject during an interaction with the Parliamentary Press Corp, stated his tremendous admiration for Kennedy Agyapong and emphasized that he would never join in actions intended at harming his image or campaign. He reaffirmed his party’s commitment to political civility and fair competition.
“I don’t know anything about this so-called matter, and I feel a lot of pain because this is someone I respect, he is not an enemy, and I don’t even do this to my opponents in the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who have their artworks all over Nsawam, and how much further will I go about pulling down my colleague Member of Parliament’s artwork?”
“This is not the first time they have levelled this accusation against me, and I want to assure my colleague that I have nothing personal against him.”
However, he predicted that the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will receive a landslide endorsement in the NPP’s next Special Delegates Congress.
“If you zero in on what happened in Sunyani in 1998 and all the things that the other contestants have said, there are not going to be any surprises, it will be an emphatic endorsement for the most popular candidate and you know it is the Vice President and he is going to win hands down,” he added.
