Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye has demanded for retraction and apology of a defamatory content published against him on Onua TV/FM’s morning show by the host, Mr. Blessed Godsbrain Smart (A.K.A Captain Smart).
“Our client has referred to us a video recording of the morning show aired on Onua TV and Onua FM on or around 23rd August 2022, wherein you made statement concerning our client.”
This comes after, Captain Smart stated that Mr. Asenso-Boakye, whiles Deputy Chief of Staff at the office of the President influenced the outcome of disciplinary proceedings by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) against a certain gentleman named Adubofour, where the MP had the said Adubofour ‘reinstated’ contrary to the decision of GRA to transfer the gentleman.
However, in a statement dated, August 29, 2022, Hon. Asenso-Boakye debunked these allegations.
“GRA is an organization established and governed by an Act of Parliament, the GRA Act, 2009 (Act 79) and that, in his position as Deputy Chief of Staff, he had no influence or control over the GRA or whatsoever,” the statement said.
The MP who also doubles as the Minister for Works and Housing has demanded an unqualified apology for peddling the aforementioned blatant and malicious falsehood about him, “within seven days of receipt of this notice since the same social media you published this falsehood.”
