The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai in the Western North Region, Alfred Amoah and his driver has been reported dead in an accident on the Accra-Kumasi highway.
According to sources, the multi-vehicle accident occurred when a trailer truck with the registration number AS 4229-X lost control near Apedwa and collided with his vehicle.
While the trailer was said to be on its way from Kumasi to Accra, the MCE and his driver were on their way from Accra to Kumasi.
According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle, with registration number GN 2060-18, was severely damaged, trapping the occupants inside.
The injured were taken to Kibi Government Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, officers from the Ghana Police Service have arrived on the scene to maintain peace and order.
