The case filed by former Presidential Staffer and one-time Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining, Charles Bissue, against the Office of the Special Prosecutor, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, and Tiger Eye P.I. has been postponed until March 13, 2023.
This was after Charles Bissue’s lawyers amended his application to the court, asking the court to stop the Office of the Special Prosecutor from investigating and prosecuting him over corruption allegations levelled against him in a mining corruption video captured in an investigative piece released by Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye P.I. team.
Mr. Bissue applied to the High Court in December 2022, claiming that because he had already been investigated and cleared by the Ghana Police Service, there was no need for the Special Prosecutor to investigate him again for the same offence, especially since he had not been cited for any wrongdoing.
In a social media update today, Monday, February 6, 2023, the OSP stated that Charles Bissue’s lawyers have moved to withdraw the earlier application and replace it with an amended one.
The amended document has yet to be served on the Special Prosecutor’s office, according to him.
The case has thus been adjourned until March 13, 2023, so that defendants can be served and respond if they wish.
Following an investigative documentary titled Galamsey Fraud Part I, published by Tiger Eye P.I., the Office of Special Prosecutor launched an investigation into Charles Bissue’s role at the IMCIM in October 2022.
This involves allegations of profiteering from public office.
Following that, the Office of Special Prosecutors published a list of work completed in 2022, claiming to have completed its investigation into Mr. Charles Bissue.
