Some Assembly members in the Tarkwa -Nsuaem Municipality have described the confirmation of Benjamin Kesse yesterday as the Municipal Chief Executive for the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality as illegal.
They said the elections for the Benjamin Kesse’s confirmation was done without the knowledge of the Assembly’s Presiding Member, and the right quorum was not formed to make the process legal. Out of forty-three (43) members which make up the Assembly, only 20 were present during the confirmation of which majority were appointed members.
The Assembly Members have thus hinted they are heading to the high court to seek redress, and hope to secure an injunction declaring the entire confirmation exercise as illegal.
Speaking in an interview with Skyy Power FM, one of the aggrieved Assembly Member, Honourable Paa Kwesi Afi, described the entire exercise as a shameful act perpetuated against the good people of Tarkwa-Nsuaem.
” I want to say that what happened yesterday was not only unfortunate but also a shameful act against the good people of Tarkwa-Nsuaem. The Presiding Member signature was falsified and used on the letter declaring him (Benjamin Kesse) as MCE, yet the Presiding Member was absent during the exercise. Also, the right quorum was not met to allow for such an exercise to take place, as the exercise was done largely by appointed members of the assembly against us (the elected members). I want to serve notice that we are heading to the high court to secure an injunction declaring the entire exercise as an illegal one”.
