The Dr. Prince H. Armah Foundation(DPHA) led by its founder, Dr. Prince Hamid Armah, who also doubles as the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Kwesimintsim Constituency and Executive Secretary for the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), earlier today distributed mathematical sets to BECE candidates within the Kwesimintsim Constituency. The event took place at the forecourt of the Effia- Kwesimintsim Municipal Education office at Apremdo.
In attendance for the event was the Municipal Education Director for Effia- Kwesimintsim , Acting Executive Director for the Dr. Prince H. Armah Foundation, Mr.Augustine Asiljoe, Programmes Coordinator for the Foundation, Mr. Albert Howard and teachers and students drawn from 71 schools made up of both public and private.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Armah stated that he has come thus far in life owing to the benefits of education, and reiterated how education is crucial in helping us transform the fortunes of this nation.
“It is education that has taken me around the world and indeed brought me back home, in all humility, as a leader. This transformational power of education is afforded entire societies as well. Countries like South Korea and Singapore have moved from their status as underdeveloped countries to the ranks of the first world countries in a generation, owing in great part, to their investment in and attention to education”, he said.
In addition, he admonished the BECE candidates to stay focus on their studies in order to achieve excellence in their educational pursuits. He further announced at the event that an award to be known as the “Dr. Armah Award for Academic Excellence in Public Schools” has been instituted, which will be adminstered by the Foundation to help bridge the performance disparity between private and public basic schools in the constituency.
“To the children who are sitting the examinations this year, I would like to wish you the very best. You future now lies ahead of you with all the opportunities. You must remain focused on your purpose, which is to come out at the end of your education possessing the knowledge, skills and ability to contribute to our country’s development efforts, to make a difference in the workplace and to make a better life for yourselves and your families”, he asserted.
