Strong winds ripped off the roof of the dining hall at Ejuraman Anglican Senior High School (SHS) in the Ashanti Region, hospitalizing approximately 40 students.
On Monday, around 5 p.m., the students were eating supper when the incident occurred.
The students are being treated and responding at the Ejura Government Hospital.
Several school assets were damaged as a result of the incident.
Municipal Director of Education for Ejura/Sekyedumase, Akwasi Frimpong Haruna confirmed to Journalists adding that the students involved are in stable condition.
“The incident affected approximately 200 students, but when I arrived at the hospital, the doctor informed me that those admitted are all in good condition, with the exception of five in critical condition, which he has managed to stabilize.”
The Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Ambulance service are yet to make a full statement on this unfortunate news.
