Members of the Pensioner Bondholders Forum have returned to the Finance Ministry’s premises to picket, demanding payment of outstanding coupons on matured bonds.
The government has failed to pay coupons on matured bonds for pensioner bondholders who were exempted from the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme and for individual bondholders who did not participate in the scheme.
The Forum explains that the government has failed to pay their matured coupons and principal for more than two months.
Convenor for the group, Dr. Adu Anane Antwi, told OilCity Radio that the government’s silence compelled the group to return to the Finance Ministry to picket.
“We fought for exemptions, we were granted exemptions, and now we are not paid. We’re squabbling over coupons and payments,” he added.
