The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has ordered the closure of four Palace Mall branches.
The closure which took place yesterday, October 11, 2022 affected the Labone, Spintex, Atomic Roundabout, and Weija branches.
This exercise was a result of failure to comply with the Authority’s E-VAT Invoicing system
According to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), when customers make purchases, some stores purposefully fail to issue VAT invoices electronically.
The GRA noted that the refusal of these stores to follow its directive provides signals that they are under-declaring tax.
In a media interview following the closure, Joseph Annan, Area Manager of GRA’s Accra Central office, cautioned store managers not to tamper with the Commissioner’s seal.
By so doing Mr. Annan added that these traders “could aggravate their problem.”
