Ghana is set to host the inaugural edition of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues series, from Thursday 26 to Saturday 28 January 2023, under the auspices of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and His Excellency Wamkele Mene, secretary general of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat.
The dialogue series, an initiative of the Africa Prosperity Network (APN), is expected to bring together Africa’s political and business leaders in a conference with other thought leaders on Africa. Not only will they brainstorm on the continent’s crucial single-market project, but the dialogues will also establish an annual platform for the continent’s leaders to spearhead collaborative implementation of the crucial African Continental Free Trade Agreement.
The AfCFTA’s objectives must be shared by all parties from the outset, especially by businesses, large and small, if the trade agreement is to succeed. This is why the Africa Prosperity Dialogues were established.
Recent global geopolitical unrest has revealed Africa’s excessive reliance on exports of natural resources and the global supply chain. Additionally, it has shown how crucial it is for Africa to seriously build up its capacity for greater intra-African reliance and insulate herself from exogenous shocks of uncontrollable events
The launch of various platforms for political and business leaders on the continent and in the diaspora to strategize, plan, and work together to create the world’s largest single market of Africa’s 1.4 billion people will be a component of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues. As a result, Africans will have more opportunities and Africa will be more prosperous.
The dialogue series, which has been dubbed the “Kwahu Summit” because the idea was developed at the Rock City Hotel in the Kwahu Mountains of eastern Ghana, will also aid in bringing the continent’s pressing issues into sharp relief, outlining its industrialization priorities and aggressively advancing the commercial and infrastructural interventions necessary to achieve the goal of enhancing intercontinental trade.
There will be two sections to the conversations. The Business and Policy Leaders’ Dialogue, a retreat for business executives and associations, senior public figures, thought leaders, technocrats, and the Association of Africa Investment Promotion Agencies, will be featured at the first event.
This event will be held on January 26 and 27,at the picturesque Safari Valley Resort in Aburi, located on the mountainous Akuapem Ridge.
President Akufo-Addo on January 28, 2023, host the second session of the dialogues.
Several other heads of state from the eight regional blocs on the African continent will join President Akufo-Addo.
The presidents of Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Niger, Nigeria, the Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, and South Africa are among the leaders who have been invited.
Successful business leaders from Africa and beyond, including industrialists, economists, bankers, and successful entrepreneurs, have also confirmed their participation.
