Ghana presented 100 athletes to compete in 13 different competitions, and after 10 days of the games, Ghana recorded 5 medals, 2 silver, and 3 bronze.
Given the number of medals Team Ghana has won at previous Commonwealth Games, it is certain that this would be considered successful participation.
Joseph Paul Amoah won the men’s 200-meter bronze medal in athletics with a time of 20.49 seconds. Additionally, this is Ghana’s first track and field medal since 1974.
Deborah Acquah won the third medal for Ghana in the athletics category with a leap of 6:94, shattering her previous record.
Abraham Mensah won silver in boxing after falling short in the Bantamweight finals, earning the other three medals.
Unfortunately, Joseph Commey fell sick and was unable to compete in the featherweight finals against Jude Gallagher of Northern Ireland for the gold medal. He decided on a silver medal as a result.
Wahid Omar of Ghana was defeated by Louis Colin in the semi-finals and had to settle for the bronze medal in the over 60kg-63kg Lt welterweight division.
The 2022 Commonwealth Games will officially close on Monday, August 8, 2022, in Birmingham, UK.
