The Member of Parliament for Kwesimintsim Constituency and Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, Dr. Prince Hamid Armah has commissioned four transformative educational projects aimed at addressing critical infrastructural needs within the community.
These projects, part of a broader effort to enhance the educational landscape, include two fully furnished six-unit classroom blocks in Anaji and Whindo, along with two state-of-the-art kindergarten blocks at Apremdo and Adientem/Mpatado.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Armah reflected on the journey to this moment, recalling his visit to Whindo MA School in 2022. “The structure was collapsing, and students were forced to study in unsafe conditions. Today, seeing this school restored and transformed into a safe, conducive space for learning is a true joy.”
The new blocks in Anaji and Apremdo have not only replaced deteriorating structures but also solved the pressing issue of overcrowded classrooms. “This creates a nurturing environment where students can focus and thrive,” Dr. Armah emphasized.
One of the most impactful developments is in Adientem/Mpatado, where the first public basic school has been established, marking a significant milestone for the community. For years, children in the area had to walk 4-6 kilometers to access education in neighboring towns. The new 14-unit primary and JHS block, now 80% complete, will soon further ease the educational burden on families, ensuring more children have access to quality education right in their own community.
These projects are just a few of the eight major initiatives spearheaded by Dr. Armah, whose first term as MP has seen an ambitious push to improve education in Kwesimintsim. His contributions include the construction of a six-classroom block and a six-seater sanitary facility at Whindo MA School, a modern kindergarten for Myoung Forces Basic School, rehabilitation of the Takoradi Senior High School library, the facilitation of a dormitory block for Takoradi Senior High School through Tullow Oil, renovations at the Municipal Education Directorate, and the provision of 50 streetlights to schools across the constituency.
The commissioning event was attended by key dignitaries, including Hon. Kojo Acquah, Municipal Chief Executive, Municipal Director of Education Madam Gloria Biney-Gontor, Chief of Whindo Nana Kwesi Essiam IV, and local Assembly Members.
Dr. Armah reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to educational reform, stating, “My mission is to ensure that every child in Kwesimintsim has access to quality education. By improving infrastructure, we are laying the foundation for a brighter, more promising future for the children of this constituency.”
With his ongoing efforts, Dr. Armah continues to set the stage for lasting change, creating a learning environment that fosters success and empowers the next generation of leaders.
