The National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Executives are expected to meet with members of the Minority Caucus today, Tuesday, January 31st, to discuss the changes made to their leadership in parliament.
The meeting follows the backlash that greeted Haruna Iddrisu’s removal as Minority Leader and replacement with Dr Cassel Ato Forson.
The meeting on Tuesday is expected to explain the reasons for the reshuffle to the caucus and gain the support of all disgruntled Minority MPs.
Following a reshuffle of its leadership by the NDC’s national executives, there has been a schism among group members.
Speaking to journalists after a meeting with the leadership following his appointment, Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson assured former caucus leaders of collaboration to deliver on their mandate in Parliament.
“We have just come out of a very successful meeting with the leadership of the party. We are going to deliver on our mandate.”
“And as has been agreed with the leadership of the party, there will be a series of activities that will be undertaken beginning from today. We will have our maiden meeting with our leadership and the party leadership on Tuesday,” he added.
As part of the leadership changes, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, MP for Ellembelle, took over from MP for Ketu North, James Klutse Avedzi as Deputy Minority Leader while Kwame Governs Agbodza replaced Asawase MP, Muntaka Mubarak as the Minority Chief Whip.
