Vlisco Ghana, an African Inspired Fabric House, has unveiled Managing Director at Morgan Stanley in the United Kingdom, Lucy Quist as its 2022 brand ambassador in Accra.
She takes over from Madam Yawa Hansen-Quao who served in that capacity last year.
Lucy Quist’s debut is part of Vlisco’s brand tradition of highlighting influential women who have broken down barriers to inspire future generations.
This tradition first began with Dr. Ellen Maame Hagan in 2013 as Vlisco’s first-ever brand ambassador.
In a speech following her unveiling, Quist thanked all previous ambassadors for paving the way and putting in so much effort in the field of women’s empowerment.
“It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to stand in this position. We as women play much greater roles that we may not know. I thank you all for being here for the amazing work you do as women,” she said.
According to Quist, Vlisco is a timeless brand that represents dreams, hopes, and aspirations for the future, making this a fantastic opportunity to connect and empower many women.
“For me, this is to reach out to women across the country to provide mentorship to women both young and old whether they are studying, whether they are business women, and very importantly to the women who work for the company.
“I know that through this opportunity, I will also have the chance to learn from these women, and collectively we will move forward. I have to add that this is a very important time for us as a country. This is the time for the bold new normal,” Quist said.
Group Managing Director for Vlisco Ghana, Fatoumata Doro said she believes Lucy Quist will succeed in her efforts to project the company’s name and empower more women to become Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and Managing Directors (MDs) in the future.
Her roles as an ambassador include representing the Vlisco brand at key events, assisting with promotional campaigns related to the brand values, and collaborating on various online campaigns aimed at brand building and women empowerment.
