Tuesday, March 7, 2023, has been deemed a national holiday for all students.
This comes after Monday’s Independence Day event, in which students from around the country participated.
This was stated in a press release by Ghana Education Service (GES).
On Monday, March 6, 2023, thousands of students from throughout the country and people from all walks of life descended to Adaklu in the Volta Region to commemorate Ghana’s 66th anniversary of independence.
At the local level, many Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies marked the day by allowing students to march in the 6th March procession.
“It is announced for the information of all schools and the general public that Tuesday 7th March has been declared a holiday for all school children in Ghana,” GES said in its statement.
“This is to enable them to have some rest after preparing vigorously for the Independence Day anniversary Parade,” it added.
According to the GES, schools will reopen on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.
