His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has lived his entire life in service to his nation, for the benefit of his fellow man and to the glory of his maker. He has exemplified the nobility of public service and inspired many people – young and old – to apply their energies in service to their country.
I count myself as one of those people. When I was nearing the end of my studies in the United Kingdom, I was privileged to attend an event that was addressed by the then candidate Akufo-Addo in London. So motivated was I by the vision he put forward and the unique mix of confidence and humility with which he spoke, then I resolved to come home and serve. And so I did.
Over the last four years, we have seen the president’s zeal and determination to not only boost access to education, but to ensure that the content on offer would be relevant and useful to the Ghanaian child and the nation they will in time be tasked to build. The fruits of this labour will soon be evident and it will be one among many monuments to President Akufo-Addo’s tremendous service to our nation.
On your birthday, Mr President, we celebrate these and many other qualities and achievements that inspire and challenge us, the next generation of public servants, to give our all to this country, asking for nothing in return but the success of our efforts. We are privileged to be led by you, to serve with you and to build this country with you. Long may you live and even longer may your example endure.
Happy birthday, Your Excellency!
