The Northern Development Authority’s (NDA) Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sumaila Abdul-Rahman, and his two deputies, Mr. Stephen Yir-eru Engmen, in charge of operations, and Mr. Patrick Seidu, the Deputy Chief Executive (Finance & Administration), have all been charged with corruption by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
Mr. Andrew Kuundaari, the Chief Executive of the private consulting firm A&QS Consortium Limited, has also been charged with the three.
The four are accused of conspiring to influence the procurement procedure in some way in order to gain an unfair advantage in the awarding of a procurement contract.
On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, the four defendants will be arraigned before the High Court (Criminal Division), Tamale.
The accused each face a number of additional charges as a result of the OSP’s investigation into a complaint alleging corruption and offenses related to corruption against the NDA and A&QS Consortium Limited, both of which operate out of Wa in the Upper West Region.
According to a Tuesday statement from the Office of the Special Prosecutor, “Mr. Sumaila Abdul-Rahman, Mr. Patrick Seidu, and Mr. Andrew Kuundaari have each been charged with a new count of directly or indirectly influencing the procurement process to obtain an unfair advantage in the award of a procurement contract, while Mr. Stephen Yir-eru Engmen has been charged with two (2) additional counts of the same offence.”
