Former President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership stormed Parliament prior to the swearing-in ceremony for James Gyakye Quayson, the re-elected Member of Parliament for Assin North.
Among the preparations, Minority Members of Parliament were spotted clad in white attire, symbolising a special occasion.
However, the majority of Members of Parliament were still taking their places in the chamber ahead of the much-anticipated swearing-in ceremony.
The presence of the NDC flagbearer and the NDC leadership emphasised the importance of the swearing-in ceremony.
The swearing-in ceremony is an important step in reaffirming James Gyakye Quayson’s mandate as the elected Member of Parliament for Assin North.
Gyakye Quayson was re-elected in a by-election for the Assin North constituency, earning 57.56 percent of the vote.
He received 17,245 votes, defeating Charles Opoku of the (NPP), who received 42.15 percent of the vote, and Bernice Enyonam Sefenu of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), who received 0.29 percent.
