The Ashanti Region leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed all regional chairpersons in the region’s 47 constituencies to remove all posters, banners, and other paraphernalia of the former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyerematen, from their party offices following his resignation from the NPP on Monday, September 25, 2023.
According to a memo dated (25 September) and signed by the NPP’s Ashanti Regional chairman, Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako, and addressed to all constituency chairpersons in the Ashanti Region, Mr Kyerematen’s posters and flyers no longer serve any purpose at the party’s offices since he has resigned from the party.
“In light of Hon. Alan Kyerematen’s resignation from the party, all of his posters, banners, and flyers have been removed.”
The NPP states Mr. Kyerematen’s posters and flyers no longer serve any purpose at the party offices since he left the NPP in a memo dated (25 September), signed by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako and addressed to all constituency chairpersons in the Ashanti Region.
“All of Hon. Alan Kyerematen’s posters, banners, brochures, and other memorabilia in our party offices in all of the constituencies must be taken down with immediate effect in light of his resignation from the party. It is only just and fair that these objects be taken out of our premises once he has renounced his membership, according to the memo signed by Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako.
Kyerematen resigned from the New Patriotic Party on Monday, less than a month after withdrawing from the party’s flagbearer competition. He has since proclaimed his intention to run as an independent candidate in the 2024 presidential election.
At a media event on Monday (25 September), Kyerematen stated that his decision will allow the party to join in a national unity administration.
“I wish to use this opportunity to assure the rank and file of the NPP that I still very much cherish my relationship with you., and I am committed to the ideals of the founding fathers of the party,” he stated.
“My decision to contest as an independent candidate will not destroy the NPP, but rather provide the party an opportunity to participate in a government of national unity,” Kyerematen stated.
