Over 400 polling station executives from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Kwesimintsim Constituency, Western Region, have taken the initiative to secure nomination forms for their sitting Member of Parliament, Dr. Prince Hamid Armah, in anticipation of the 2024 parliamentary primaries.
Marching through the bustling streets of Kwesimintsim, party executives, led by First Vice Chairman Alfred Yeboah and 2nd Vice Chairperson Jane Duah, were accompanied by a multitude of NPP sympathizers. The purpose of this collective effort was to submit the duly filled nomination forms and essential documents at the constituency office.
Speaking to Beach FM, Alfred Yeboah underscored the unanimous decision to throw their weight behind Dr. Prince Hamid Armah, emphasizing the MP’s outstanding contributions to the constituency.
“As delegates, we recognize Dr. Prince Hamid Armah as our Member of Parliament, applauding his remarkable achievements. We have come together to secure and submit the nomination forms to ensure he can continue the excellent work he has been doing,” stated Mr. Yeboah.
Noteworthy is the financial commitment of the 420 polling station executives, who not only secured the nomination forms but also raised an impressive GH¢38,000 to cover the associated fees, all in the absence of the MP.
Mr. Yeboah commended Dr. Armah’s impactful initiatives, stating, “In every electoral area within the Kwesimintsim Constituency, you can witness the positive changes he has brought and continues to bring to our community. Despite Dr. Prince Hamid Armah’s absence, we, the 420 polling station executives, contributed and covered all expenses, raising over GH¢38,000 to support our MP.”
Dr. Prince Hamid Armah emerged victorious in the 2020 election on the NPP ticket, securing nearly 60 percent of the vote in the party’s primaries held in June 2020. The subsequent general election on December 7, 2020, witnessed him overcoming a spirited challenge from the National Democratic Congress’ candidate, ultimately winning with a substantial margin of about 12,000 votes more than all his opponents combined.
As the NPP prepares for the 2024 parliamentary primaries, the overwhelming support from polling station executives showcases a united front and stands as a testament to the impactful leadership of Dr. Prince Hamid Armah in the Kwesimintsim Constituency. The substantial financial contribution from the executives further highlights the depth of appreciation for his dedicated service to the community.
