The Office of the Special Prosecutor has commenced investigation into suspected corruption and corruption- related offences in respect of auction sales of vehicles and other goods by the Customs Division of Ghana Revenue Authority between July 1 2016 and August 15 2022.
In a statement released today, August 22 2022, the Special Prosecutor, Mr. Kissi Agyebeng on August 19, directed the Commissioner of the Customs Division to produce some document to the OSP on or before September 30, 2022.
These documents include; the particulars and clear description of all auctioned items, the quantity of all auctioned items, the prices at which the items were auctioned, the date of each auctioned sales and the full names, addresses, and telephone numbers of the successful bidders at all the auction sales.
“The Special Prosecutor further directed the Commissioner of the Customs Division to immediately halt and discontinue all auction sales till the investigation is concluded,” the statement concluded.
Following the Special Prosecutor’s recent report on alleged corruption at Labianca Foods the OSP has also commenced a thorough examination into all decisions and benchmark values used by the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) dating back to 2017.
In a statement released the Commissioner of Customs, Col. Kwadwo Damoah (Rtd), has been ordered by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng to provide any papers relevant to transactions that took place between July 2017 and December 2021.
