The Parliamentary Select Committee on Defense and Interior has stated that it will summon National Security Minister Albert Kan Dapaah to explain how US rapper Meek Mill filmed a music video at Jubilee House.
The Committee decided to question Mr. Dapaah because the Jubilee House, which is a national security installation, should be protected at all times.
Ranking Member of the Committee, James Agalga, told Accra-based media Citi TV that the President’s security could have been easily jeopardized.
“The security of our president could easily be compromised by the conduct of that musician. So we need to call into question the conduct of the head of security of the presidency and as a committee, we will be looking into the matter.
“We definitely will invite the National Security Minister and question him about the protocols that are in place at the Jubilee House,” Mr. Agalga said.
In an interview, the Member of Parliament for the North Tongu constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, said the Minority will push for sanctions against those who allowed Meek Mill to film a music video with explicit lyrics at the Jubilee House.
Meek Mill, an American rapper, was invited to the Jubilee House by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo after performing at the Afro Nation Concert in Ghana on December 29, 2022.
Days after his visit, he posted a music video with explicit lyrics shot at the Jubilee House on Instagram.
Some Ghanaians were outraged by the development because they are frequently barred from filming at national security installations and are sometimes molested, whereas a foreigner was given full access to the Jubilee House.
Meek Mill later apologised for the video, saying it was not meant to offend Ghanaians or the Presidency.
