Four people, including a Reverend Minister, are being treated at the Kibi Government Hospital in the Abuakwa South Municipality of the Eastern Region after surviving an accident on the Accra-Kumasi Highway this morning.
Four vehicles were involved in the accident: a Toyota Highlander with registration number GS 8462 -Z, a Toyota Hilux with registration number GM 2480 -14, a Toyota Vitz with registration number GX 5085 -20, and a Burkinabe trailer with registration number 11 MJ 0194.
According to preliminary investigations conducted by Kibi MTTD personnel who visited the scene, the Toyota Vitz traveling from Accra to Kumasi lost the front tyre on the driver’s side of the highway at Birimso, causing the vehicle to drift.
In an attempt to swerve the drifting Vitz, the trailer and Highlander from the opposite side collided with the Toyota Hilux.
The four injured people were rushed to the Kibi Government Hospital by the National Ambulance Service, where they are currently receiving treatment.
The police, who have begun an investigation, have arranged for towing trucks to assist in managing and controlling traffic on that stretch.
