Member of Parliament (MP) for Mpraeso, Davis Opoku Ansah, has said, the Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo must be relieved of her duties as an MP and Minister.
This follows the comments the MP for Dome- Kwabenya made during an exclusive interview with JoyNews’, The Pulse.
The Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo explained that her son has been unwell. However, she will resume her position immediately her son is healthy and family issues resolved.
“If your child is sick should the people of Dome Kwabenya be denied of representation in parliament then Adwoa Safo should resign. Of course everyone is thinking of their family, but if you believe your son is sick and so your constituents should be denied of representation then it is rather unfortunate.
The President must crack the whip now”, the M.P for Mpraeso, Davis Opoku Ansah said.
According to him, the comment the MP for Dome-Kwabenya made is insolent to the public and especially to him, since he had to forfeit his medical condition to attend to parliamentary duties.
“I had to sit in parliament knowing very well I had a medical condition to attend to but I could not travel,” he added.
Mr. Davis Ansah again mentioned that “For you to say that your son is sick is an unfortunate comment to make. If her son is sick, she can bring him to seek medical treatment in Ghana, or does she no longer trust Ghana’s hospitals? For me, I think Adwoa Safo has taken our party for granted and something must be done about it.”
Speaking on Asempa FM’s “Ekosii Sen,” the MP cited instances that his MP colleagues with critical medical conditions had to make it to parliament to enable the passage of the Electronic Transaction Levy.
The Minority Caucus raised concerns about an impersonation claim of the Gender Minister, Adwoa Safo at the chamber in December 2021. Though she refused these claims, the Minority insists on her removal from office.
