President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo presented letters of accreditation to five newly appointed envoys on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at the Jubilee House in Accra.
According to the President, all six individuals who have reached the top of their careers have been chosen as Career Diplomats to serve as Ghana’s High Commissioners and Ambassadors.
The following are the appointed envoys and their positions:
H.E. Mr. Samuel Yao Kumah – High Commissioner to Australia
H.E. Ms. Doris Adzo Denyo Brese – Ambassador to the Czech Republic
H.E. Mr. Mohammed Habib Idris – Ambassador to Kuwait
H.E. Mr. Kingsford Amoako – Ambassador to Liberia
H.E. Mr. Mark Michael Entsie – Ambassador to Libya
H.E. Mr. Alex Owiredu Adu – Ambassador to Niger
President Akufo-Addo praised the envoys’ excellent service and dedication, saying they had proved their commitment to Ghana through remarkable public service careers.
He singled out Mr Samuel Yao Kumah, the High Commissioner-designate to Australia, who had previously worked as the Presidency’s Director of State Protocol for the preceding three years. Throughout his tenure, the President praised Mr. Kumah for his expertise, effort, honesty, humility, and integrity.
President Akufo-Addo emphasised the importance of these appointments in light of the government’s Ghana Cares Obaatanpa programme, which will be launched in 2021. This programme intends to revitalise the Ghanaian economy through a variety of initiatives such as commercial farming support, development of the manufacturing and digital economy sectors, advancement of digitalization, job creation, and increased opportunities for vulnerable populations.
President Akufo-Addo highlighted the appointment of five Career Diplomats as High Commissioners and Ambassadors, emphasising their critical role in furthering Ghana’s economic agenda, encouraging bilateral collaboration, and maintaining Ghana’s strong international reputation.
