The Police have arrested the Supervisor of the three-story building that collapsed in Adentan, Accra, on Monday.
One person was killed and three others were injured as a result of the under-construction structure.
Two of the injured people, however, have been treated and released.
Jennifer Agyabeng, the Municipal Chief Executive for La-Nkwantanang Madina, has since ordered the confiscation of the contractors’ equipment after it was discovered that the project lacked a permit.
Foster Arthur, the NADMO director for the Assembly, told the media that the police have begun an investigation into the matter.
“When it was discovered that they did not have a permit, I requested that the police arrest the supervisor or site foreman, Ganiyu Abdul, and he was taken to the Adentan Police station.”
The collapsed building was a three-story structure near Kpogas Furniture, the Adentan footbridge, the SDA church intersection, and the West African Hardware Company.
Meanwhile, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has revealed that the three-story building collapsed due to a concrete mixer crushing one of the building’s pillars, resulting in a loss of balance in the building.
