Alan Kyerematen has asked Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, the paramount chief of the Oguaa Traditional area, to encourage delegates in his area to support his presidential bid.
This was stated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate during a courtesy call on the paramount chief as part of his tour to the Central Region.
When elected president of the republic, the former trade and industry minister revealed his ambitions for the country.
He admitted that the constitution prohibits chiefs from participating in party politics; nonetheless, he stated that chiefs and traditional rulers are key partners in development and should support the cause of individuals who they believe can nurture progress.
Kyerematen stated that chiefs and traditional rulers must have a say in who becomes president since development is what they seek from any leader.
Thousands of Kyerematen supporters flocked to the paramount chief’s residence to greet him as he arrived in the Central Region.
Kyerematen began his tour into the region at the palace of the supreme chief, where he sought his blessings.
A crowd of supporters, dressed in ‘Alan’ branded t-shirts and other NPP paraphernalia, gathered outside the palace amidst brass band music until Kyerematen and his entourage arrived at the palace.
Yaw Buaben Asamoa, the campaign team’s spokeswoman, stated that it was critical to formally tell Osabarima Kwesi Atta II and the people of the Central Region about Kyerematen’s presidential desire and to seek their support.
