Thousands of Teshie residents have gathered to protest the poor condition of their roads.
Teshie, a vibrant Accra community, has been dealing with severe deterioration of their town roads.
Commuters are concerned about the state of these roads, which have a negative impact on their daily lives.
“All we want is for the road to be fixed. Just this week, I went to the mechanic to have my car fixed. You can imagine how we are feeling as residents. We’ve been ignored for far too long.
There are more potholes than galamsey sites,” a road user complained.
When OilCity Radio visited various Teshie communities, it became clear that the area’s roads were in disrepair, posing numerous challenges to motorists and pedestrians.
As a result, residents took to the streets today, May 30, 2023, to demand a fair share of the national cake.
Meanwhile, the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly has announced the immediate start of rehabilitation work on several Teshie inner roads.
“A contractor is on-site right now to begin work on the following roads: Tsuibleoo Road, which runs from LEKMA to Adjorman roundabout, Fertiliser Road, King Kortey Road, which runs from Mamfe Junction to Yoomo Specs and is 1.2 kilometres long, and Numo Mashie Road, which runs from Mobile to Tsuibleoo Last Stop. These projects will begin right away. However, these are not the only roads we will be developing. Others include the entirety of Coffee Street and others,” Mordecai Quarshie, the MCE, told the media on Monday.
