The Teachers and Education Workers Union (TEWU) will cease operations across the country on Saturday, April 15, 2023.
Members of the TEWU are demanding payment of the professional and skills development allowance, which they claim has been unpaid since 2021.
The TEWU’s General Secretary, Mark Dankyira Korankye, stated that the National Labour Commission has been notified of their action.
According to Mr Denkyira, despite the fact that the processes leading to the payment of the allowance have been completed, the government is purposefully undermining the union’s efforts to get the payment made for its members.
The TEWU, which includes bursars, cooks, cleaners, administrators, accountants, and auditors, among others, called off its nationwide strike last year after meeting with stakeholders to discuss their grievances.
A committee was formed to address their grievances After the strike was called off.
