The Member of Parliament for Essikado-Ketan Constituency of the Western Region, Hon. Joe Ghartey has stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is second to no other political party in Ghana. The MP, who doubles as the Minister for Railway Development, recounts the party has since its inception proven to be a catalyst to the country’s development, not just the physical infrastructure but also the development of human capital and welfare. Joe Ghartey added that many that joined the NPP have lived to impact the nation more than any others.
“…the New Patriotic Party gives us a better option than any other party,” Mr. Ghartey added.
Delivering a speech at a training and campaign launch for the Greater Accra Youth/TESCON, the Minister charged the patriots to be proud of belonging to the NPP, as they walk in the footsteps of their forebears.
He noted that the party had transitioned from an era of fighting for freedom and democratic governance, to offering solutions to propel the nation from impoverishment to economic independence and resilience.
“People like Nana Akufo Addo and others fought for our freedom. Today the fight is different. And it’s about ideas. It’s that, your government or the party you support must organise itself such that Ghana becomes a better place. And that is what our party does any time it’s in power.
Within 8 years, Kuffour took us from a Highly Indebted Poor Country (HIPC) to a middle income country. Now look at what President Akufo-Addo has done…in spite of COVID. All over the world people are applauding him,” he boasted.
Mr. Joe Ghartey, someone who has been applauded for his descent politics, entreated the youth to be mindful of their attitude and utterances in public discourse.
“You owe that responsibility to live up to expectations and do unto others what you wish they do unto you,” he said.
Hon Joe Ghartey, who is enjoying massive plaudits for how he is transforming the rail sector, charged the young patriots to make the needed sacrifices in campaigning for votes so they could retain political power for the NPP.
“We have to win the next elections to consolidate the gains of the New Patriotic Party; to take the country from strength to strength; and protect our future, your future, and the future of our children,” he charged.
