The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) has donated items to the international students of the university who are living on campus as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The items included water, boxes of indomie, boxes of tin milo, hand sanitizers, nose masks, rice, tin fish, and tin tomatoes, among others.
Making the presentation, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Jerry S.Y Kumah said when the university was closed down and borders closed in March this year, the international students could not go back to their various countries. He said the university authorities found it necessary to donate some food items and other things to them to support them as they stay on campus during this era.
Professor Jerry S. Y. Kumah urged the students to continue to practice the precautionary measures in order to be safe.
President of the Students Representative Council, Kwamena Okyere thanked the University for the gesture. He said the items will go a long way to support the international students as they stay on campus during the coronavirus pandemic.
