The Upper West executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have rescinded their decision to boycott President Akufo-Addo’s tour scheduled for Monday, August 22, 2022.
This development follows claims by the Upper West Regional secretary, Mr. Daniel Tanko that the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih has deliberately excluded them from the planning of the President’s visits.
“We took the opportunity to organise a Regional Executive Committee meeting, thinking that the minister will be in the meeting to give us further details about the President’s visit but he refused to come…and that was when we felt the minister is not taking us for anything,” he lamented.
However, in a statement signed by Mr. Tanko the Regional Executives “have agreed to rescind the decision and retract the press statement that was issued yesterday.”
The committee urged all party members to get themselves ready for the visit of the President.
“We love our President and would welcome every opportunity that is offered to us to receive him in the region,” the statement added.
