The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has released preliminary results for the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination in 2022. (WASSCE).
WAEC said in a statement on Thursday that the results only apply to Ghanaian students who took the exams this year.
Candidates can view the results on the examination body’s website, according to the examination body.
However, 8,486 candidates who were reported by the Ghana Education Service for vandalism and other illegal activities will be unable to access their results.
“The affected candidates are advised to visit their schools for their results”, portions of the statement said.
A total of 422,883 candidates, including 203,753 males and 219,130 females from 977 schools, took the exams.
“This figure is 5.25% lower than the 2021 entry figure of 446,352”, WAEC revealed.
“A total number of 2,818 (0.67%) of the candidates who registered were absent from the examination”, the statement further disclosed
Meanwhile, the Council states that “the entire results of 117 candidates have been withheld pending the conclusion of investigations into alleged cases of impersonation detected during the examination.”
WAEC states that the results of such candidates” may be cancelled or released based on the outcome of the investigations.”
In a related development, 3,845 candidates’ subject results have been cancelled for bringing foreign material into the examination hall.
