The Director General of the National Lottery Authority of Ghana, Sammi Awuku, believes the New Patriotic Party (NPP) must focus on recovering its majority in Parliament.
Speaking on Accra- based in Citi TV on Tuesday, April 4, the former NPP National Organiser predicted a fight for numerous parliamentary seats in the 2024 elections.
He did, however, add that the NPP will defeat the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) through a variety of measures.
“I think that the NPP must focus on regaining our lost seats because there will be a battle for Parliament. But I think we [NPP] will beat the NDC through strategy.”
Mr. Awuku also hinted at the prospect of running for the NPP’s Akropong parliamentary seat.
Several Chiefs and Opinion Leaders in the area, he claims, are persuading him to run for the Akropong seat.
Following the 2016 elections, the NPP held 169 parliamentary seats, while the NDC held 106.
Nevertheless, following the 2020 elections, the NPP lost its stronghold in Parliament, with 137 MPs, while the NDC also had 137 seats and one independent candidate.
