The Municipal Director of Health Services for the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality, Dr. Caroline Effah Quansah has disclosed that thirty (30) health workers have been infected with the novel corona virus.
The Tarkwa- Nsuaem Municipality has been declared by the Ghana Health Service has the second epicenter of COVID-19 infections aside the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis in the Western Region.
Dr. Quansah stated that ” as we speak now about thirty (30) health staff within the Municipality has been infected with COVID-19. And that is not good for healthcare delivery in the area. I am entreating all health workers in the municipality to continue to take seriously all the COVID-19 safety protocols as outlined by the World Health Organization and the Ghana Health Service respectively, so that we can halt the increasing rate of infections among health workers in the area”.
Meanwhile, Goldfields Ghana Limited has so far made a total donation of personal protective equipment (PPEs) to the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Health Directorate to the tune of $33,000.
