Former Trade Minister Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, who narrowly missed out on the flagbearer post in the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), is slated to reveal his political destiny on Monday, September 25, 2023, during a scheduled news conference.
Mr. Kyerematen, despite ranking third in the first round of the NPP’s flagbearer selection, which reduced the candidate pool from ten to five hopefuls, opted to withdraw from the November 4 congress, alleging bias on the part of the party’s leadership in support of a certain candidate.
There is significant suspicion that Mr. Kyerematen may abandon the party and run for president as an independent candidate.
The ambiguity around his next move, however, will be erased later today when he unveils his future plans.
It is also possible that he will choose to continue his political career within the party, maybe supporting one of the remaining four candidates battling for the coveted flagbearer role, or to pursue his political goals independently.
