Minority in parliament says government is in the process of the collapsing the only surviving bank NIB .
Addressimg the media on the banking crisis the ranking member on the comitee on finance Isaac Adomgo said the already collapse of several banks which has led to several citizens stiggling is still not enough for government as it imtends to “steal NIB and ADB from ghananians.
He said this collapse which led to several panic withdrawals caused several banks going bankrupt and suffered serious losses leadjmg up to 80 billion cedis. The national investment bank NIB as according to Adongo is the current target by government to collapse.
Mr Adongo noted that the comstant pressure by Ofori Atta to buy shares in companies and finamce government comtracts is currently affectimg the bank problems.
He called on the finance minister Ken Ofori Atta to desist from collapsing NIB or face legal sanctions because NIB was established by an act of parliament and thus cannot be taken for granted like the other bank.
According to him, if governmemt wants to terminate NIB monies of depositors needs to protected and needs to come back to parliament for amendmemts.
Adding up to comments made the ranking on finance,the minority leader cassiel Ato forson noted that if NIB is saved,the bank alone can save tbe economy from the already created mess in the banking sector.
He also said minoroty willl come out with a provate members team to change the management of NIB and replace with competent mangament to restore the health of ADB and NIB.
