The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Elections Committee has announced that the party’s constituencies across the country will hold Presidential Primaries on November 4th.
Professor Michael Oquaye, Chairman of the Committee, says each constituency will have a polling station for the elections.
On November 4th, almost 200,000 NPP delegates will vote to select a Presidential Candidate for the 2024 election.
Professor Michael Oquaye assured the public that the elections will be free and fair.
“The Electoral Commission will also be fully in charge of the process; in fact, it will be conducted in the same manner as any other national election. There will be a center in each constituency, and the EC will go about the process of conducting the polls. What this means in practice is that no authority, no person, whether a party member or not, will be involved in the process of conducting the elections,” Professor Michael Oquaye explained.
On September 22, the party’s Presidential Elections Committee issued instructions for the November 4 primaries, which will be held at all 276 seats around the country as well as the Party Headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra.
According to a statement issued in Accra, the guidelines define the procedures and rules for the primaries that will select a presidential candidate for the 2024 general election.
Four persons vying for the presidential slot include the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, MP for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong, former MP for Mampong Francis Addai-Nimoh, and former Agriculture Minister, Dr. Owusu Akoto Afriyie.
