The Ghana Police Service has detained 25 people in connection with an attack on its personnel and the damage of certain buildings in Kwahu Bepong, Eastern Region.
The people allegedly attacked police officers and trashed property in the neighbourhood.
The police were called in to restore order after some neighbours opted to take matters into their own hands in dealing with an accused murder suspect.
Residents were dissatisfied with the police involvement and threw stones at them, destroying their motorcycles.
According to a police statement, a reinforcement team working with the local police has restored peace and “things have been normalised while efforts are ongoing to get the other suspects arrested to face justice.”
The police added that all information of the event would be revealed in due time.
