The Chairman of the vetting committee for the flagbearer contest of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Edward Doe Adjaho has dismissed reports that the party compelled businessman Ernest Kobeah to withdraw from the race.
He insisted that Mr. Kobeah was not disqualified from the race since he willingly dropped out.
Ernest Kwaku Kobeah handed in his leave request to the NDC’s elections committee on Wednesday, March 29.
A former Speaker of Parliament praised the performance of all three flagbearer candidates during the vetting process.
“If you look at the Constitution and guidelines, for example, you must satisfy the qualification eligibility prescribed in the 1992 Constitution. You have to satisfy the party’s constitution, and you must also satisfy the guideline issued by the National Executive Committee (NEC). All of them did well before us, they all satisfied the conditions,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, former President John Dramani Mahama, former Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffour, and former Kumasi Mayor Kojo Bonsu have been permitted to run in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries on May 13.
Following the presidential primary balloting, Mr. Mahama chose the first spot on the ballot, followed by Kojo Bonsu and Dr. Kwabena Duffuor in that order.
