The Nurses and Midwifery Council is being urged by the Rotational Nurses and Midwives Association to take immediate action and see that their 10 months’ worth of unpaid compensation is paid.
The group has recently contacted a number of parties, including the Ministries of Health and Finance, to request authorization for payments to be made, but those efforts have not been successful.
Jasper Dzorkah, president of the Rotational Nurses and Midwives Association, expressed concerned to OilCity Radio about the effect this is having on association members while making a hint about the group’s intention to stop providing services or hold a demonstration exercise on May 15 if the government doesn’t pay them this week.
However, he wants the Nurses and Midwifery Council, their professional body, to get involved in the matter.
“I will call on the Nurses and Midwifery Council that they should have interest in our payments. If government fails to pay us we might be forced to strike on May 15,” Jasper Dzorkah, President of the Rotational Nurses and Midwives.
